Project brief

ECO of London was appointed as the main contractor for the main plant replacement project at BP Sunbury ICBT. The project comprised the replacement of seventeen air handling units positioned at roof level which serve a dedicated research laboratory facility.

The project

This involved the phased replacement of seventeen air handling units. The building had to remain live throughout the project with scheduled lab closures to facilitate the plant replacement. ECO of London were committed to delivering the project strictly in accordance with the programmed shutdowns to reduce the time period of research laboratory closures. The project was executed from September 2014 to April 2015 with one of the key risks being the winter weather which could delay crane lifts and subsequently severely impact on the programme.

Delivery

The project was delivered successfully, on budget and on time. Only one of 17 crane lifts was cancelled due to ‘bad weather’ as the risk was mitigated with smart scheduling.
