Project brief
ECO of London was appointed as the main contractor for the main boiler replacement project at 30 St. Mary Axe Service Building, The Gherkin, London. The boilers were located on level 05 of the building.
The project
The project comprised the replacement of a new 1500kW gas-fired boiler unit and associated plant and equipment. Access to level 05 with new plant was not available and therefore a crane lift was necessary to the level 05 plant deck. The removal of sections of the glazed façade was necessary to remove the existing plant and locate the new into position.
Delivery
The project was delivered successfully, on budget and on time. The plant had to be crane lifted to level 05 and then manoeuvred into the plantroom which was faultlessly executed by our specialist crane company.
